Qualified
candidates will be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
Qualified candidates MUST have strong life insurance product
knowledge (mortality rate, modeling, pricing, etc.).
Experience with COLI or BOLI is preferred.
JOB SUMMARY:
Applies proper actuarial principles and techniques to all
aspects in the design, pricing, administration and reporting of
individual life, annuities, health or group insurance products.
Works in conjunction with other departments in response to
changing market conditions and net market opportunities. May
supervise actuarial students for assigned product.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Price life insurance products for corporate purchasers using
a variety of profitability metrics, including sensitivity
analysis. In addition to UL and registered variable products,
customized private placement variable products are prevalent.
This involves working in a team environment with sales,
marketing and business development staff.
2. Perform risk analysis of life insurance products on a
stochastic basis, using varying policy owner behavior and
economic scenarios. Currently, this relies on developing models
using ALFA software. This involves presentations to the
corporate risk management committees.
3. Support filing of policy forms and disclosure documents,
providing certifications as required.
4. Perform experience studies on pricing assumptions.
5. Provide illustration support for life insurance products.
6. Perform acceptance testing of life insurance administration
systems.
7. Assist financial reporting staff in developing forecasting
models for new life insurance products.
8. Provide support to underwriting staff as needed.
9. Participate in establishing business strategies.
10. Support new product training for sales and operations staff.
11. Manage a staff of actuarial professionals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Knowledge:
Achievement of Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries.
Membership in the Society of Actuaries and American Academy of Actuaries. 1-2 years at the new
FSA level.
Experience:
8-10 years related experience (e.g., pricing, actuarial,
product) or combined experience and educational equivalent.
Previous management experience.
Knowledge:
Mastery of standard actuarial methodologies and insurance
concepts. Displays command of legal and regulatory requirements
in area of assignment as well as pricing procedures and
methodologies. Demonstrated ability to manage people and
projects.
Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrated work product accuracy. Effective verbal/written
communication skills; Demonstrated ability to comprehend
actuarial concepts and other advanced statistical concepts;
Demonstrated ability to think logically and perform actuarial
methods in a timely manner. Leadership ability when functioning
in a management role.
