Principal Scientist

Conduct filtration/separations engineering projects for product and process development, environmental compatibility and as otherwise directed. Provide chemical and physical compatibility engineering information to engineering, manufacturing, marketing & sales and quality departments. Prepare reports and present results and project summaries to peers, management, customers and vendors as required.


Required Skills:
- Support day-to-day activities associated with new oil & gas, and petrochemical development and testing
- Assist in the review and solution of manufacturing problems related to oil & gas, and petrochemical production
- Prepare documentation and reports as required
- Analyze engineering designs for material requirements
- Coordinate multiple projects and direct test lab technicians as required
- Plan, conduct, track and report oil & gas, and petrochemical investigations
- Recommend and specify materials for specific design and field applications
- Prepare investigative reports
- Communicate on oil & gas, and petrochemical issues inside and outside Pentair
- Prepare materials and process specifications
- Work and cooperate with Engineering, Office, Vendor, Customer, Laboratory, and Shop personnel


- Proficient in use of computer work processor and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing through memos and engineering reports.
- Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to materials engineering assessments and recommendations.
- Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.
- Must be able to effectively handle many concurrent projects
- 3 years experience in oilfield applications
- Knowledge of oilfield polymers
- 10 years experience in oilfield polymers is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge or experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
- Knowledge of quality systems

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in chemistry or materials engineering. A candidate with 5 years minimum relevant professional oilfield oil & gas, and petrochemicals experience at a level where technical decisions were made and technical competence was demonstrated would be considered in lieu of the BS degree.
- 2-5 years experience in oilfield oil & gas, and petrochemicals
- PhD preferred though not essential.
