Director Health System Quality Operations - Analytics

Job Summary

The Director Health System Quality Operations-Analytics will provide leadership and expertise in the development and administration of a health system-wide quality and operational analytics. Works under minimal supervision to provide data and information for leadership to use to make informed decisions regarding performance related to organizational goals and objectives.  Reports to the Associate Vice President of Quality Operations.

 Experience and Education

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, computer science or related technical discipline

  • Ten years of performance analytics experience in Healthcare

  • At least 5 years experience managing analytics team

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, computer science or related technical discipline

  • Seven years of performance analytics experience in Healthcare

  • At least 3 years’ experience managing analytics team

 PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, computer science or related technical discipline

  • Ten+ years of performance analytics experience in Healthcare

  • At least 5 years experience managing analytics team 

Job Duties

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the Health System Quality Operations analytics staff through developing vision, priorities and policies for the quality and operational analytics environment while providing instruction, staff training, advising, mentoring, providing constructive guidance of job responsibilities, addressing performance issues and driving staff to reach their full potential

  • Leads and manages efforts throughout the Organization to enhance the strategic use of data and the understanding of analytic tools from the end user’s perspective

  • Engages and collaborates with Organizational senior leadership to create and maintain balanced dashboards that convey status and direction of key metrics for the Medical Center, University and clinics, and all service lines, clinical units, programs and ambulatory care sites turning data into information/knowledge

  • Continuously dedicated to the organization’s mission and understanding the Voice of the Customer when developing analytics solutions that will best help the customer meet organizational objectives based on their current level of knowledge and scope of work

  • Designs and continuously improves processes to identify, collect, manage and submit data as required by regulatory and accrediting agencies

  • Establish solid working relationships with IR, financial, nursing and operational leadership to help create and utilize a system-wide data warehouse

  • Actively represents the Organization in the data management and reporting group for the Health System which will present data and reporting needs and concerns to senior leadership

  • Analyzes current and emerging trends in quality to provide strategic approaches to improve the Health System’s performance

  • Surveys internal practice and comparative industry benchmarks to analyze trends and indicators in related areas of work

  • Provides leadership in the development of training materials for users that maximize their ability to use the system capabilities

  • Guides the development of performance measures, target methodologies and thresholds, and ensures accuracy of measure results

  • Safeguards the integrity and security of institutional data

  • The candidate for this position will be a mission-driven and highly-experienced healthcare analytics professional.  S/he will bring significant experience and knowledge to the position, having already demonstrated success operating in a similar role.  Academic healthcare experience would be optimal

  • Microsoft Project experience is a plus

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt a plus with JMP or Minitab experience

  • Proficiency with SQL/report development

Work is performed primarily in general office environment.
