Job Summary

Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and federal lending regulations. Oversee and administer mortgage lending compliance duties as needed to support the Mortgage Lending Division. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures with adherence to all applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

·         Provide regulatory guidance in support of production, operations and sales departments

·         Maintain close relationship with legal department regarding relevant legal/compliance implications of implementation of new products, procedures, and operational initiatives with relevant legal/compliance implications.

·         Act as internal consultant to legal and business leadership to ensure compliance requirements are effectively integrated into operations along with appropriate training programs and monitoring plans.

·         Manage daily operational compliance requests and issue escalations.

·         Oversee Lending complaint process, deliver relevant reporting and direct mitigation activities

·         Direct policy, procedure, bulletins, and other communication activity for the Lending division

·         Collaborate with Legal on federal, state, and counterparty exam preparation, file review, response requests and defect mitigation activities.

·         File HMDA reports and continually review dispensation processes to streamline HMDA filings and minimize errors in data transmission.

·         Research federal and state issues, e.g. surveys, notary, civil unions/domestic partners, high cost, good faith estimate questions and change of circumstances requirements.

·         Review certain wholesale and retail consumer loans to ensure quality and identify potential issues.

·         Review state guidelines, examine and assess state specific disclosures, and implement new policies and procedures related to state expansion for both retail and wholesale business.

·         Participate in Fair Lending Committee meetings, analysis, and assist Committee to implement recommended business changes.

·         Manage system and document testing of new products, processes, and enhancements to drive compliance-related controls.

·         Oversee branch and department self-evaluation programs.

·         Assist in investigation and respond to branch complaints from individual consumers, FDIC, and state regulators as needed.

·         Analyze and review all new changes to federal and state regulations, update relevant policies/ procedures, collaborate to update training materials, detail the potential effect on mortgage procedures.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:

·         Thorough knowledge of federal and state lending regulations

·         Broad knowledge of federal, state, GSE (FNMA, FHLMC, HUD), CFPB and Treasury examination requirements

·         Experience developing and managing corporate policies and procedures

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Familiarity with LOS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

·         Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information

·         Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions

·         Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints

·         Ability to interact with Senior Management as an advisor on projects, and to act as the company’s principal spokesperson in area of expertise

·         Ability to make decisions that have a significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services

·         Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedules and that of others

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and to record, balance, and check results for accuracy

·         Ability to make informal presentations, inside and/or outside the organization; speaking before groups, and express ideas clearly both in writing and verbally

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

Education, Experience And/Or Licenses

·         Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

·         Nine (9) or more years of mortgage industry experience

·         Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a Compliance Leader in a mortgage lending environment.
