Our premier client requires an executive leader with the ability to lead and manage an agency with a diverse portfolio of activities through his or her personal knowledge and expertise and also through his or her leadership of a highly qualified senior leadership team, all with the goal of being the nation’s premier Organization.

The skill set of the agency executive leader should at a minimum reflect the following in demonstrated experience, philosophy, and or practice in:

As a strategic, visionary, outcomes oriented and results-driven leader. The unique role that housing and development agencies play in promoting, supporting and creating affordable housing and upward mobility opportunities for the residents of its communities.

The leadership qualities required to facilitate both the housing and the development requirements of the position, including housing financing approaches (LIHTC, HUD, CITC), public and private partnerships, and managing the finances of its housing portfolio.

The ability to communicate effectively with and respond to residents, agency team members, and their representatives, instilling a sense of dignity and value for their contributions, input, experiences and role as contributors to their personal success as well as the success of the agency and the people it serves.

Understanding, respecting and appreciating the role of the Board of Commissioners and their responsibilities in the governance of the agency and using them as a strategic partner—maintaining transparency, apprising Board members in a timely manner of developments, issues, needs and operations of the Agency.

Working in close relationship with the Metro Nashville government and its local officials as well as with the nonprofit, development and for-profit community, and with labor unions and their representatives.

Agency compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations including (i) applicable HUD rules and regulations relating to Section 8 and Section 9 of the Federal Housing Act, (ii) applicable HUD rules and regulations relating to any HUD grant or similar program such as CDBG or HOME, and (iii) employment laws and regulations, audit and financial management requirements, procurement regulations and Open Record Law requirement.

Communication strategies using pro-active communications and development of relationships across multiple sectors including developing a cooperative relationship with the media and achieving the status as a community leader and expert in housing and development issues. Participating in speaking engagements to promote the image of the Agency. Representing the Agency in leadership roles with housing-related agencies, trade associations, and the community at large.

Educational Requirements:

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field, and experience in urban and community development, housing finance, urban planning or public housing management involving complex issues and long-range social planning is preferred.

A minimum of a Bachelor degree required. 10 plus years of closely related professional managerial expertise require. Superior communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have solid technological skills along with the ability to implement new strategies and systems as needed.
