Chief Financial Officer

Wilmington, DE (On-site)

We’re on the search for a Chief Financial Officer who knows their way around a balance sheet and a boardroom. Someone who can lead a team, steer strategy, and still get excited about the details. You’ll be our financial compass—guiding the company with clarity, insight, and a commitment to smart, sustainable growth.

If you’re a mission-driven leader who wants to play a real role in shaping a company’s future—we’d love to meet you.

Your Priorities Will Be:

  • Lead with the Numbers (Obviously). You’ll develop the strategy behind the dashboards—forecasting growth, building financial plans, and guiding big-picture decisions with real-time information.

  • Keep Our House in Order. Oversee accounting, payroll, job costing, audits, and reporting across all divisions, with a steady hand and a sharp eye.

  • Coach the Team. Manage and mentor a team of six accounting pros, building a culture of accountability, trust, and growth.

  • Be Our Strategic Sounding Board. Work closely with the CEO and executive team to evaluate business opportunities and make smart, forward-thinking decisions.

  • Balance Risk and Reward. Evaluate financial performance, maintain internal controls, and keep us aligned with our values, goals, and shared rewards.

DAY TO DAY YOU WILL:

  • Translate complex financials into clear insights for company leadership—no magic decoder ring required.

  • Help Project Executives and Estimators set the right margins, then track performance throughout the life of each project.

  • Lead and continually improve our job cost and financial systems.

  • Coordinate internal audits and prepare external financial reporting.

  • Work alongside HR to support compensation strategy, benefit design, and team growth.

  • Lead with presence—mentoring your team, championing culture, and keeping the big picture in focus.

YOUR SKILLS LOOK LIKE:

  • Deep knowledge of construction industry finance, accounting, and job cost systems.

  • Tech savvy—especially in Microsoft Excel and major accounting software (we use Viewpoint/Spectrum).

  • Strong communicator—you know how to speak finance to non-finance people.

  • Creative thinker and practical problem-solver—you find a way through, not around.

  • Steady under pressure and calm in the chaos—you bring confidence and clarity to the table.

  • You build great teams and even better relationships.

YOUR EXPERIENCE LOOKS LIKE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience (construction industry background is a major plus).

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team—hiring, mentoring, and developing talent.

  • Proven track record of contributing to company strategy and long-term success.

WHAT EVERY EMPLOYEE SIGNS UP FOR:

  • Work ethically and with integrity, always.

  • Prioritize Project Zero safety and health program.

  • Engage in, and are intentional about, Transformational Culture.

  • Be a Premier Builder, implementing our processes and standards for every client.

  • Pursue personal and professional growth and development.

  • Serve as caretakers of financial health, resulting in Profitable Growth and Shared Rewards.

  • Build our company, individual, and client legacies through everything we do.
