Systems Engineering Team Leader

Job Description:

This person reports to the Networking Services Manager and will be responsible for the management of the Systems Engineering Team, leading the design, implementation and management of Corporate Infrastructure including Server and Virtualization Platforms, Identity and Access Management, Public and private Cloud, as well as Data Protection.

This individual will be relied upon to ensure service delivery, and will alert Management to conditions that may affect the integrity of those systems. This individual will provide a key escalation point for systems performance and availability, as well as security related concerns.

This person will work directly with IT groups, vendors and customers on projects/challenges to effectively incorporate cost effective and efficient technology solutions into the existing landscape. This individual will evaluate, test, and assist in the selection of hardware, software and management solutions that promote the performance and reliability of business applications and processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and directly manage Server Engineering team, developing and managing internal team members ensuring accountability and performance objectives are met

  • Lead the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of core Infrastructure services such as Nutanix and VMware Hypervisors, Windows/Linux OS, Active Directory, DHCP and DNS, Group Policies, Data Protection, as well as Private and Public Cloud

  • Lead the team in providing advanced technical support, service management and escalation services in areas of responsibility

  • Manage vendors and service delivery across all organization Private and Public Cloud environments including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS workloads

  • Develop, document, maintain and enforce Global Standards and Policies within areas of responsibility

  • Develop, maintain and execute standard procedures for installation, maintenance and vulnerability management of Hardware and Software

  • Lead global cross-functional teams and vendor resources in successful delivery of medium to large projects

  • Perform capacity management functions for Infrastructure landscape, reporting on key metrics and forecast demand

  • Perform Lifecycle Management functions, projecting Capital Refresh demand and Reporting/Maintaining important Hardware and Software Maintenance and Support

  • Lead and Manage Infrastructure Change Management process

  • Ensure that the organization’s Business Continuity objectives are documented and supported with appropriate Business Continuity Plans which are regularly tested, measured and reported to the organization and Business stakeholders

  • Install, configure and maintain Server management systems such as HP Insight Manager, VMware vSphere, Powershell/Scripting, SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and SCOM/Azure Monitor

  • Install, configure and maintain systems including Enterprise grade Server and Hyper converged systems, SAN and Networking switches, and Enterprise Data Protection

  • Participate in IT vendor RFP process as required, assisting in selection process aligned with the organizations Procurement, Legal, and Data Privacy personnel

  • Develop project plans, capital spending authorization requests and provide Project Management services organizational IT and Business driven Projects

  • Manage Privileged Account Management solution

Required Experience and other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. MBA Preferred.

  • At least 3-5 years track record of progressive and direct management of effective people, teams and vendor resources

  • At least 3-5 years experience at Enterprise level - IT Infrastructure Design Implementation, Operational Management, Compute, Storage and Network

  • Highly developed SME experience and expertise in areas of responsibility

  • Technical ability and knowledge to quickly integrate, implement and document new technologies while supporting and maintaining the existing core Infrastructure

  • Experience managing vendors,service providers, solutions for monitoring Infrastructure performance, reliability and stability

  • Strong written and oral communication abilities, comfortable interfacing with all levels of the organization’s IT and Business leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cross functional team environment to deliver project tasks and assignments on time and on budget

  • Track record of identifying opportunities for improvements and sponsoring projects to management
